Impossible Goals

Terms of Service

This is a working DRAFT pending review by legal counsel. It accurately describes how Impossible Goals works today, but the wording is not yet final and should not be relied upon as a binding agreement until it has been reviewed and dated.

These terms are the agreement between you and Impossible Goals for your use of the app and service. By creating an account or using Impossible Goals, you agree to them.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or otherwise using Impossible Goals, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility and age

You must be at least [TBD: minimum age, e.g. 13 or 16] years old to use Impossible Goals, and old enough to form a binding agreement where you live. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Your account

You sign in through our authentication provider. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it. Give us accurate information, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Your content

You own the goals, entries, and photos you create (“your content”). You keep that ownership. To run the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display your content solely to the audiences you choose for each goal (private, your supporters, or public) and solely to operate, secure, and improve the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that age out on our normal schedule and anything you have already shared publicly or that others have adopted.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.

5. The social model

Impossible Goals connects people around goals in three ways:

Follow — you follow a person to see the goals and updates they share with their followers.
Support — you support a specific goal to witness and encourage it.
Adopt — you adopt someone’s goal to start your own version of it, on your own account.

What others can see is governed by the visibility you set on each goal. Anything you make public may be seen, supported, or adopted by others.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Impossible Goals to:

harass, bully, threaten, impersonate, or invade the privacy of anyone;
post content that is illegal, hateful, sexually exploitative, or that infringes someone else’s rights;
spam, scrape, or attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the security or rate limits of the service;
use the service in any way that breaks applicable law.

You can block another person and report content or accounts from within the app. We review reports and may remove content or take action on accounts that breach these terms.

7. Content moderation and takedown

We may remove content or limit an account that violates these terms or the law. If you believe content on the service infringes your rights or breaks these terms, report it in the app or email us at angusbuttar@gmail.com, and we will look into it.

8. Termination and account deletion

You can stop using Impossible Goals at any time. You can delete your account and all of its data yourself from Settings → Delete account — this erases your uploaded photos and other files, then your database rows, then your identity at our authentication provider.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we are required to act on by law, or that poses a risk to other people or to the service.

9. Disclaimers

Impossible Goals is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will help you achieve any particular goal. [TBD: final disclaimer wording by counsel]

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Impossible Goals and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. [TBD: final limitation-of-liability wording and any cap by counsel]

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [TBD: governing law / jurisdiction], and any dispute will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
